The NUT and NASUWT postponed the national strike action during the autumn term in order to enter talks with Michael Gove. We said then that without sufficient progress, a national strike in England and Wales would be held and the NUT has announced a national strike across England and Wales on Wednesday 26 March in pursuit of the disputes that Michael Gove has caused with the profession around pay, pensions and conditions.
Teachers in sixth form colleges are affected by Michael Gove’s attacks as much as other teachers and funding cuts have had a greater effect on sixth form colleges. NUT members in sixth form colleges have a separate dispute with Michael Gove but they are taking action alongside NUT members in schools and academies. Information on the campaign generally can be found here.
