Assessing Pupils' Progress
Teachers will be aware of the Government's scheme 'Assessing Pupil Progress'. Many have expressed concerns about the potential excessive workload arising from APP.The NUT has acted quickly to prevent APP becoming unmanageable.
A joint statement has been agreed by the NUT,NASUWT,ATL,NAHT, ACSL, DCSF and QCDA.The statement makes it clear that APP is voluntary;that any implementation of APP should be the subject of discussion and consultation with staff and that schools can adapt APP for their own circumstances.
Where schools decide to use APP,this statement will enable them to be in professional control of the scheme and to ensure as APP is an effective and mangeable way of carrying out teacher assessment. It is set out below.
