There is an alternative – the big day is here!

Join us today for the TUC’s March for the Alternative.

We are marching for education, for a good local school for every child and for our pensions. There is no bigger day in the fight against unjustified cuts.

To maximise the impact of our demand for a halt to education spending cuts we are asking you to march with the NUT.

NUT Assembly Point

The area between Hungerford Bridge (by Embankment Tube Station) and the rear of Temple Place will split into 14 zones. The NUT has been allocated position 7. This is approximately 100 feet to the east of Waterloo Bridge, continuing eastwards for 150 feet. (see map)

There can be no guarantees that you can join the NUT zone unless you arrive promptly. Late arrivals will be encouraged to join the rear of the form-up area. TUC stewards, linked by radio, will be in position near to stations and bridges to assist marchers with directions.

The more people who march behind our clear and simple message “Education Cuts Never Heal”, the stronger the message will be. March with our flags, stickers and protest scissors and look out for our “Education Cuts Never Heal” balloons on the march.

Transport information

For NUT members, there will be three trains running from the North West region. Seats for these trains should be booked through your association/division. Latest times and departure points are available here. Transport details are now also available for the Eastern, Midlands and South West divisions. ARRANGEMENTS FOR ACCESS AND DISABILITY
The TUC have made arrangements for three different assembly points for people with impaired mobility. If you are likely to require access to any of these assembly points it is essential that you inform the TUC via their March for the Alternative website and completing the appropriate form:
