Preventing Work-Related Mental Health Conditions by Tackling Stress - Guidance for Head Teachers
The guidance for head teachers is aimed at helping head teachers to provide a healthy work environment. It includes:
• information on the role of the head teacher;
• advice on addressing the stigma of mental health conditions;
• practical guidance on undertaking stress audits; and
• advice on how to support staff who do become unwell.
The letter to school reps / safety reps explains what school reps need to do to ensure that their head teacher reads and acts upon the guidance. The letter to head teachers urges them to meet with school reps to discuss how best to implement the advice. The press release announces the publication of joint NUT/UNISON/UNITE/GMB guidance aimed at helping head teachers to provide a healthy working environment which minimise the risk of staff developing mental health conditions.
