Disabled Members Network
Are you an NUT member? Do you consider yourself to be disabled? Would you like to join our growing network of disabled teachers and be put in touch with other disabled teachers nationally and in your region, to share experiences and provide support for each other?
For the past 12 months the NUT together with its disabled members have been forming the Disabled Members Network, which the Union officially launched on 1 March 2008.
We intend to use the network to keep disabled teachers in touch with each other; to invite them to give us policy advice and to help us develop campaigns; and we will also plan a network social event once a year. This may be in London but will also be held around the country. We also plan to extend the right to vote for a reserved place on the National Executive to disabled members.
If you are disabled, or know a colleague that is and might be interested please download an application form here and email it to disabledmembers@nut.org.uk.
This new network has not been developed to duplicate the service and advice offered by the NUT regional offices, and NUT Cymru in Wales. Please be aware, the Education and Equal Opportunities Department does not, and cannot give individual advice to NUT members.
