NUT members in London boroughs of Camden and Tower Hamlets held a one day strike on 30 March in protest at cuts in jobs and education services.
Camden NUT Divisional Secretary Andrew Baisley said: “Strike action is a last resort. Michael Gove would like you to believe that cuts to central services are painless. This could not be further from the truth. The services being cut support our most needy and vulnerable children.”
NUT East London Divisional Secretary Alex Kenny said: “If we lose these services, education in Tower Hamlets’ schools will be diminished.”
Christine Blower, General Secretary of the NUT said; “While industrial action is always a last resort, the NUT cannot stand by and watch vital education services axed”.
