Pension increase payable from 8 April 2013
There will be a 2.2 per cent increase in teachers’ pensions from 8 April 2013 with a proportionate increase for teachers who retired part-way through the year.
This 2.2 per cent increase is linked to CPI inflation rather than the 2.6 per cent had the RPI link been maintained.

Age Allowance e-petition
The Government has announced plans to phase out the age-related personal allowance and instead have a single personal tax allowance regardless of age.
From April 2013 existing age-related allowances will be frozen at their 2012-13 levels until the personal allowance for the under-65s catches up. Age-related allowances will no longer be available to people who turn 65 on or after 6 April 2013. The income limit at which the age-related allowances begin to be clawed back will rise to £25,400 in 2012-13.

Changes to State Pension Age
The Pensions Act 2011 accelerates increases in the state pension age. The state pension age for women will reach 65 by November 2018 and the state pension age for men and women will reach 66 by October 2020. The document shows state pension ages for those in the transition period.
