The Disclosure of Capability Information
On 1 September 2012, the Government introduced new legislation which will give any maintained school or academy that you apply to teach in the right to be told, upon request, whether you have been subject to capability proceedings in the last two years and, if so, to receive written details of:
- the concerns which gave rise to the capability proceedings;
- the duration of the proceedings; and
- the outcome.
Capability Procedures for Teachers: Joint NEOST and Teacher Union Advice on DfEE Guidance
This document contains joint guidance from NEOST and teacher organisations, including the NUT, on the DfEE guidance issued in 2001. The joint advice sets out the background to the discussions and the key points on the implementation of capability procedures at school level. This document was circulated under cover of circular 44/01(L&PS).
