Support Amnesty International's Call for Justice for Human Rights' Defenders in Iran

Amnesty International (AI) has launched a new campaign that fights for human rights defenders in Iran. The campaign demands the safe and immediate release of jailed trade unionists, seeks to ensure that Iran complies with International Labour Organisation (ILO) trade union conventions, and calls on the Iranian authorities to respect trade unions’ freedom of association. The NEU is particularly focusing on Esmail Abdi, a leader of the Tehran Teacher Trade Association who was unfairly convicted of fabricated charges in 2016 and is currently out on bail. Abdi is featured in AI's young activists' Write for Rights campaign this year, which you can join with your students by clicking here. You can find out more about the campaign and sign AI's petition on their website.
