The NUT plays a leading role in influencing education and employment policies at national and local levels. Our eight regional offices and Wales Office compliment the work of the Headquarters’ teams and focus on direct support to our members as well as organising activities, training and being the face of the Union in their region.
We are now seeking to recruit a Helpdesk Support Analyst to join the NUT IT Section, one of our busy central administrative functions located at our Hamilton House Headquarters.
The post holder will provide first line support for all calls received in the IT helpdesk; allocating calls to colleagues as directed by the IT manager. They will also ensure helpdesk and other operational reports are available to the team. As a strong team-player, they will also assist with arranging external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in-house, liaising with suppliers as necessary.
In addition, they will be responsible for ensuring equipment/assets are properly labelled and noted for audit purposes before delivery to users, and assisting in the maintenance of the IT inventory ensuring it is current and matches that held by the Finance team.
To be effective in this role, you will need to have previous, consolidated experience of working in an IT function, working on a helpdesk, dealing with phone calls from staff in a confident and professional manner, to resolve issues.
You will also need to have first class knowledge of the main Microsoft software packages (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio) in supporting users requesting help and being able to create documents, spreadsheet and databases, accordingly.
Commencing salary is £31,302 per annum (inclusive of Luncheon Allowance of £948 per annum and a London allowance of £5,046), together with good conditions of service including 25 days leave, (rising with service), generous concessionary leave at Christmas/New Year and after some bank holidays and a contributory final salary pension scheme.
