Supply teachers

The NUT campaigns vigorously on behalf of its supply teacher members. Most are employed by agencies on low flat rates and with no entitlement to membership of the Teachers' Pension scheme. The NUT opposes the supply agency model which diverts significant amounts of public money into private hands, to the detriment of teachers and schools.

This page contains the NUT’s toolkit of guidance for supply teacher members and schools, and sets out information about the NUT's wider campaign to secure fair pay, conditions and pensions for supply teachers.

NEU Supply Teacher Conference and Supply Teacher Training Workshop

NEU Supply Teacher Conference and Supply Teacher Training Workshop

The 2018 NEU Supply Teacher Conference, held on Saturday 23 June at Warwick University, was a great success. It was attended by over 70 supply member delegates, many of whom stayed on for a one day Supply Teacher Training Workshop, also at Warwick University, on Sunday 24 June.

The Conference discussed the NEU's campaigns on supply teachers' pay and employment and promoted supply teachers' networking and involvement in the NEU and its wider campaigns. The training workshop discussed ways in which activists could promote campaigning locally.
