Teacher, Union and Human Rights: A Seminar on Global Solidarity

Event Details

Date: 7 July 2018
Venue: NEU - NUT Section HQ
Fee: Free

The National Education Union – NUT Section is pleased to be organising Teacher, Union and Human Rights: A Seminar on Global Solidarity. This event will explore the need for, and power of, global solidarity in education around the world, especially in the face of privatisation, oppressive regimes, and the Global Education Reform Movement (GERM).

The seminar will include workshops on education in Cuba and Latin America, child rights in Palestine, global responses to privatisation, and more. Speakers from around the world will set the context for international solidarity for teacher, human and union rights as we work towards a united front to protect and deliver quality education for all.

We are proud to be organising this event in memory of activist Mary Compton, who sadly passed away in January 2018. Mary was passionate about international solidarity and the labour movement, and was widely known and respected for her activities. This seminar will commemorate and build upon Mary’s important legacy.
