NUT react to GCSE results

24 August 2017

NUT Cymru, Wales’ largest Union for qualified teachers, has sent its congratulations to the thousands of school children across the country, together with everyone involved in their achievements, as they celebrate their GCSE results.

NUT Cymru Secretary, David Evans, said:

“Teachers, parents and above all, pupils, deserve huge congratulations for returning a really impressive set of GCSEs.  These have been brought about thanks to many months of hard work and dedication.

“The results today show that there is real rigour in our Welsh qualifications and everyone coming away with positive results have had to work extremely hard to secure them.  That can give confidence to pupils, teachers and employers.

“Of course this is the first year many of the qualifications have been introduced.  There will inevitably be bedding in process but this gives us a true benchmark to evaluate future results against.”
